Indian State Visit to the UK (28/10/2009)
The British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Foreign Secretary David Miliband attended a State Banquet for the Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil hosted by the Queen at Windsor Castle.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister and President Pratibha Patil met at the Downing Street.
President Patil and Gordon Brown discussed topics such as business, investment and education, climate change, terrorism and global poverty during their meeting this afternoon.
During the remainder of her visit, President Patil will speak at the UK-India Business Council's Annual Summit and co-launch The Queen's Baton relay ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
State visits are formal visits to the UK by Heads of State from overseas, with the aim of strengthening Britain's relationships with other countries.
During their visit, the President and Dr Shekhawat will stay at Windsor Castle.
