Lord Hunt
Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change
Lord Hunt, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change visited New Delhi on 21 October to attend the two-day conference on ‘Climate Change: Technology Development and Transfer.’ During his visit to New Delhi, he said that the Copenhagen meet, to be held in December 2009, will have to be made a success wherein countries will abide to low carbon emission policies without compromising on their sustainable and consistent development.

Ian Luder, Lord Mayor
City of London
The Lord Mayor of the City of London Ian Luder lead a delegation of 29 businesspersons to India. The delegation included senior representatives of all the major financial services sectors: banking, insurance, legal services and accountancy. The Lord Mayor and members of the delegation visited New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. While in India, the Lord Mayor discussed opportunities for increased interaction in areas such insurance, banking and legal services, as well as sharing UK expertise in infrastructure investment.

Lord Davies of Abersoch visited India from 14 to 18 September 2009. During his visit Lord Davies travelled to Delhi, Nagpur and Mumbai. He also presented UKTI India Business Awards in Mumbai

Professor Sir Roy M Anderson
Vice Chancellor, Imperial College
The VC of the Imperial College, London, Sir Roy Anderson arrived on 1 September on a four day visit to New Delhi and Mumbai. In New Delhi, he gave a lecture on the 'Role of global research institutes' at the British Council. He used this opportunity to engage with students from top Delhi university colleges and IIT Delhi. Imperial college is a leading institute and speaker at this event, the VC of Imperial college, is an example of leadership and excellence in his field of work, which are Chevening values.

Ed Miliband
British Minister for Climate Change and Energy
Ed Miliband arrived on a two-day joint ministerial visit to India on September 1. The minister arrived in Kolkata after visiting Bangladesh where they witnessed first hand the severity of climate impacts on millions of vulnerable people. In Kolkata, he visited a slum improvement project supported by DFID (Department for International Development) and explored a solar housing complex. In Delhi, he held talks with his Indian counterparts on a wide range of issues on climate change and development ahead of the crucial UN climate summit in Copenhagen in December. He also took a Metro ride to learn more about Delhi's green transport initiatives and later addressed a gathering at the British Council.

Douglas Alexander arrived on a two-day joint ministerial visit to India on September 1. Lord Bach, British Minister for Justice at the UK Trade & Investment was in India for a three day visit to Chennai and Mumbai. He conducted a workshop 'Setting up in the UK: A Guide to Legal Firms' during his visit to Chennai.

Peter Mandelson
Rt. Hon. Lord Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform
During his visit Lord Mandelson travelled to Delhi, Pune and Mumbai. He was accompanied by a business delegation which had representation from various sectors including civil nuclear players, infrastructure companies and the world's largest law firm, Clifford Chance. In Delhi, Lord Mandelson met top Indian government ministers and officials. He addressed the CII Partnership Summit and attended a seminar with the accompanying UK nuclear delegation. He also participated in a panel discussion along with Kamal Nath, Minister of Trade and Commerce.

David Miliband
British Foreign Secretary
British Foreign Minister David Miliband arrived on 13 January 2009 on a three-day visit to India. He visited New Delhi, Amethi(a village in Uttar Pradesh) and Mumbai. In New Delhi he met Prime Minister Mr Manmohan Singh, National Security Adviser Mr M K Narayanan, Home Minister Mr P Chidambaram and Leader of the Oppostion Mr L. K. Advani. Mr Miliband also addressed a joint press conference with the Indian Foreign Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee.
In Amethi Mr Miliband and Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament and Congress general secretary had a taste of rural India.
In Mumbai, the Foreign Secretary gave a keynote speech on Terrorism at the Taj Rendezvous.
