HRH The Prince Of Wales

His Royal Highness' official visit highlighted the close links and partnership between the UK and India, focusing on heritage and restoration, sustainable development and youth entrepreneurship. The Prince spent three days in Delhi, four days in Rajasthan and two days in Mumbai. The Prince met young Indian entrepreneurs as well as young achievers, scholars and business people. He visited two villages in Rajasthan, where water conservation projects have transformed the lives of local people. In Mumbai Prince Charles attended a special Indian Film Industry event to meet the cast and crew from 'The Rising', a high profile new British/Indian film project.

Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for International Development

Gareth Thomas' visit reaffirmed the substantial and long-term development partnership that exists between Britain and India. Besides discussions on joint GOI/DFID programmes, the minister emphasised the shared agenda of both the UK and India to work towards poverty eradication. Mr Thomas called on Health Minister, Ms Sushma Swaraj, senior officials and civil society representatives. The visit also coincided with the end of the sub National Polio Immunisation Campaign that started on 14 September. The campaign targets more than 90 million children in ten states.

Alderman Gavyn Arthur
Lord Mayor Of The City of London

The visit of Rt Hon. the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Gavyn Arthur, was aimed to further strengthen the already excellent relationships between the Indian political and financial communities and the City of London. During his 10-day tour, the Lord Mayor visited Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. He called on Union Ministers including the Minister for Disinvestment, Minister of State for Environment and Forests, the Lt. Governor of Delhi and the Attorney General.
